Our first week long trip

In the summer of 2020, we visited one of my favorite states Montana. If you have never visited this state or only seen pictures from the show Yellowstone or any other picture online I can say first hand no words can describe it. We started the trip flying into Missoula airport (MSO) and drove to cabin on Seeley lake. People have asked me what can you do for a whole week in Montana and depending on where you fly or drive into the state. This is going to be a list of activities can do some of these I will go into detail in.

Montana places and activities list

  1. holland lake and falls walk

Holland lake is a beautiful lake with a waterfall you can hike to the view is wonderful from the top. The road to parking lot is fairly clear to park your vehicle

2.big fork/ flathead lake

Bigfork is a small town on flathead lake that has plenty of restaurants and little local shops for souvenirs. It also has a huckleberries products that are on another level of delicious ( Ice cream, taffy)

3. glacier national park

Everyone has heard of Yellowstone national park, but Glacier national park is in my opinion is more beautiful then Yellowstone the view from the summit of road to the sun or highway to the sun…. words can’t describe how beautiful it is my dad once said ” if there is anything in America worth fighting to keep it would be glacier national park.

4. Yellowstone national park

I know I did some trash talking on Yellowstone national park being not as beautiful as glacier, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go see it. The wildlife old faithful and the mountains.

5. swan peak hike

This one I have not completed my uncle and cousin have done this a couple times. I attempted it one year then gave up to walk my grandpa back down. there are a couple hidden lakes you can hike up too I believe the elevation is over 7,000 feet higher then the summit at glacier. it is a work out doing this one its about 12 hours of walking round trip so pack plenty of water, snacks and a couple pairs of socks.

6. Missoula and the M hike

Missoula is great town one thing you have to do is find huckleberry ice cream. trust me you won’t be disappointed. Id treat yourself to this after hiking to the M. The story is some drunken college student(s) hiked up to the side of this hill and spray painted a giant m on the side of the hill. Before the hike go to the University of Montana book store and buy some souvenirs and tour the campus.

Last thing I’m going to say about Montana is this is a fraction of the activities you can do, I recommend making a list of some of the activites you would like to accomplish in Montana. Last tip is plan for a rest day the altitude is higher than average in Montana and it could give you some headaches. Brianna had some problems one day so take one day to yourself and just sit outside read a book and enjoy the views.
